XVIII edition Premio Benedetto Ravasio 2015

XVIII° edition of PREMIO BENEDETTO RAVASIO

The prize confirms the attention of the Foundation to young artists, the recognition proposes to valorize the growth and the formation of new companies, that starting from their Tradition develops an important theatrical research.

Domenica September 13 th 2015 in the Comune of Bonate Sotto (Bg), country Benedict's native, the Foundation Ravasio will deliver to Irene Vecchia the XVIII° Reward Benedetto Ravasio.

The ceremony will be at cultural center Library Benedict Ravasio in via Santa Giulia at the 17,30. The president of the foundation Sergio Ravasio, the mayor and the prof Remo Melloni teacher of history of the theater will deliver the 2015 prize to IRENE VECCHIA by the following motivation :

Irene Vecchia, learns from the great teachers of the Neapolitan tradition the popular art of Guarratella, she autonomously develops her theatrical research putting first the representation by "figure" through a deep and careful use of different typologies of show: the glove puppets, the marionettes, the ancient theater of the shades, showing that the tradition doesn't prevent a true and autonomous artistic research.

After the delivery of the prize, in the courtyard of the Library, Irene Vecchia will represent her show.

Considering the recent disappearance (the 09.08.2015) at the age of 98 of Giuseppina Ravasio, wife of Benedict Ravasio, that has worked as puppeteer for 45 years, the Foundation has decided to devote a video and a speech  at the 17,00 with Piergiorgio Nosari and Remo Melloni on the value of this woman and puppeteer.
